Specialist industrial coating systems engineered for New Zealand conditions.
Blastcoat provides professional industrial protective coating services for steel assets exposed to marine, coastal, and heavy industrial environments across New Zealand. Selecting the correct coating system is critical to asset performance and service life, and our team is experienced in assessing project requirements based on location, environmental exposure, substrate condition, and specification requirements.
All protective coatings are applied in accordance with AS/NZS and ISO standards and manufacturer specifications. Quality assurance, inspection and testing are carried out when required ensuring that each project meets specification and performs reliably in service. When projects require independent inspection, Blastcoat has the experience and capability to work with NACE-certified coating inspectors, delivering fully compliant results.
Zinc-Rich Primers & Corrosion Protection Blastcoat applies a comprehensive range of zinc-rich primers and protective coatings designed to provide long-term corrosion protection through both barrier and sacrificial action. Zinc-rich systems are widely used on new steel, maintenance coating works, and galvanised substrates, particularly in aggressive environments. Zinc protects steel by sacrificing itself in preference to the steel substrate. Even when damaged, zinc-rich coatings continue to offer corrosion protection as long as sufficient zinc remains in the surrounding area. These systems are applied using conventional spray, airless spray, and specialist application equipment, depending on coating type and thickness requirements.
Epoxy Coating Systems Epoxy coatings form the backbone of many industrial protective coating systems and are commonly used for structural steel, industrial flooring, plant, and equipment. Blastcoat applies a range of high-build and specialist epoxy coatings designed to deliver excellent adhesion, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance in demanding environments. Epoxy coatings are often used as build or intermediate coats within multi-layer systems and are frequently incorporated into duplex systems over zinc primers or thermal spray zinc. Where required, epoxy coatings can be overcoated with polyurethane or polysiloxane finishes to enhance UV resistance and long-term appearance.
Polyurethane Coatings Blastcoat specialises in polyurethane coating systems that deliver excellent weather performance, UV stability, and long-term colour retention. These coatings are typically used as high-performance topcoats over epoxy and zinc systems, providing both durability and a high-quality aesthetic finish. Polyurethane coatings are suitable for structural steel, façades, plant and equipment, industrial buildings, and infrastructure assets where appearance, serviceability, and long-term protection are equally important. A wide range of colours and finishes are available to meet architectural and project requirements.
Intumescent Fire Protection Coatings Blastcoat applies intumescent fire protection coatings to structural steel, providing passive fire resistance while maintaining architectural and structural integrity. These coatings are applied under controlled conditions with strict monitoring of surface preparation, environmental conditions, dry film thickness, and curing requirements. All intumescent systems are applied in accordance with manufacturer specifications, AS/NZS requirements, and project fire engineering documentation, with full inspection records and traceability maintained throughout the process.
Protection beyond compliance. Built for durability.
